Workplace Bullying – Where to Get Help Fast When There Is Nowhere Else to Turn

Bullying in the workplace happens more often than what a lot of people realize.

A 1% bullying rate would be too much.

The reality is that nearly 1/3 of American workers state that they have experienced some form of intimidation on the job.

We went and asked those that had first hand experience with workplace bullying, which resources had been of the most value to them.

This is what they told us:

Websites and Organizations

Kickbully.com

The kickbully.com site is excellent to have a read through. It begins by giving a background around the different types of bullies.

Included are some very in depth explanations that will help you understand why your workplace tormentor acts the way they do, plus extremely valuable tips on how best to handle them.

Workplace Bullying Institute

This is pretty much the only organization in the US that has the sole focus of eliminating bullying in the workplace.

The team at WBI have been fighting the good fight for more than 18 years!

From June 1997 until the present, the Namies have led the first and only U.S. organization dedicated to the eradication of workplace bullying that combines help for individuals via our websites & over 10,000 consultations, telephone coaching, conducting & popularizing scientific research, authoring books, producing education DVDs, leading training for professionals-unions-employers, coordinating national legislative advocacy, and providing consulting solutions for organizations.

Facebook Groups (Private)

There is a very helpful and supportive group on Facebook called Stop Workplace Bullying.

If you want to share your experiences with others, and give and gain support, this is the place to go.

It’s really important with groups like these to respect the anonymity of others. That is one of the main guidelines of the group.

Caution:
It is possible that an “imposter” could join the group and cause trouble.
Potentially even your employer could join the group.
Although it is private, it is not completely hidden from the world.

Employer Review Sites

There are a number of websites where you can head along and leave a review about the company you work for.

This might not help you out immediately but in the long term the more employees that share the experiences of their workplaces, the better enabled we all will be.

Glassdoor – One of the most popular sites around for reviewing employers. The only problem is you do need to register to leave reviews and to even properly view the content on the site.

Rate My Employer (Canada) – This site is pretty good if you work in Canada.

Rate My Company USA – This is of course our own site, we tried to make it much faster than the others to actually get in and rate a company. We don’t require registration so you can literally leave a review in just a couple of minutes.
